The 3rd edition of the International Environmental Film Festival of Niamey (FIFEN) took place in Niger's capital city from 3 to 8 June 2008 under the theme of "Africa and its technical, scientific and cultural know-how at the service of water management for people and the Environment".
In addition to the standard competitions, FIFEN 2008 was host to a selection of films that shall represent Africa in the up-coming International "Water and Film" Events to take place in Istanbul in March 2009.
The Jury judged the films in three categories:
EDUCATIONAL AND SCIENTIFIC FILMS OF LESS THAN 15 MINUTES
In this category, the Jury also wished to attribute a special mention to a film that, due to its subject matter could not be proposed for the global IWFE competition. By doing so, the Jury recognised the film and its pertinence from the standpoint of highlighting traditional knowledge.
