The documentary genre is at the center of the Marseille International Film Festival artistic choices. Championed like an art of testimony with no requirement as to format, the festival welcomes films and artists who play with the transversality of the arts.

In 2011, FIDMarseille presented about 170 films, for the most part these were films making their international premieres in a rich program made up of the official selection (international competition, national competition, competition of first films), parallel screens, round tables, etc.

Through some of the best film productions it promotes information about environmental issues, conservation, natural resources, sustainable development, climate change, alternative energies, health, human rights and aims to promote thought and action in the assisting public.

The Water and Environment Short Film Festival of Montpellier aims to raise public awareness on environmental protection and water resource management. Since its debut in Turin in 1998, CinemAmbiente – Environmental Film Festival has presented outstanding environmental films in a year-round program of initiatives that promote cinema and green awareness. Besides film presentations, the program includes debates, meetings with the authors, exhibitions, book presentations, theater and concerts, and events in and around Turin.

Logo ecofilms The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival was launched in 1997 as an outreach project from the Center for the Environment at Cornell University. Always dedicated to films with a message, the festival, under program director Christopher Riley, expanded to become a major regional event in upstate New York. In 2004 Ithaca College was the major sponsor and host of the festival. In 2005 the festival moved permanently to Ithaca College, where it is housed in the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies as a program to link intellectual inquiry and debate to larger global issues.

Ciné Passion en Périgord has a dual objective : to disseminate and promote films in rural areas. Created at the initiative of a network of cinemas in 1997, the itinerant Circuit is the association’s answer to local development in terms of culture and reaching those without access to a cinema.
